The Pendry Hotel & Tides Residences brings a dynamic presence to The District Wharf, a vibrant waterfront development situated along the Potomac River, activating the site by connecting the mixed-use building to the surrounding neighborhood. Orienting the courtyard towards the waterfront, the building transforms the traditional “U-shaped” typology by stepping at each end to maximize prime views, outdoor space, and ideal southern exposure. The result is a series of residential terraces ascending the height of the building and a hotel that cantilevers over The Grove, a public park below. Each wing is articulated to optimize waterfront views while maintaining privacy between the 225 rental units and 131 hotel guestrooms, located at opposite sides of the building. Amenities, retail, and specialty dining totaling 36,000 SF are integrated vertically throughout the building, terminating at the rooftop bar and lounge with panoramic views out to the National Mall and National Harbor.
